Hyper-Crash unfolds a series of scenes in which matter seeks to escape the form we try to impose on it. At first, there are only metal fragments scattered across a dark floor, extracted from an indistinct terrain like a forgotten memory. These elements, tested, scanned and recomposed, gradually give rise to a technical organization - a mechanical silhouette emerges. But this construction doesn't hold. As it takes shape, something in it unravels. The vehicle that appears doesn't want to remain a vehicle. Its shape wavers, its structure bends, its surfaces break under invisible constraints. It's not the impact that causes the collapse, but an intimate resistance, as if matter itself refuses architecture. What was meant to transport is immobilized, what was meant to function is fragmented. The car becomes a heap, a transitory sculpture, an unstable architecture. It is at once artifact, error and trace. The forest on the periphery doesn't serve as a backdrop - it observes. It lets the material do its work, as if it already belonged to it.

Kevin Dubeau

Kevin Dubeau’s practice navigates the space between simulation and materiality, where digital processes and tangible forms collide. He explores how algorithmic systems generate fractures, creating matter in constant flux—remnants of a reality always on the verge of dislocation.

Through sculpture, synthetic imagery, and digital printing, Dubeau interrogates the plasticity of the real. He stages tensions between order and chaos, intention and accident, treating error not as failure but as a generative language. Instability becomes an archive—evidence of a simulation exceeding its frame.

Manipulating broken objects and collapsing structures, he asks whether images can tear like metal, or if a 3D print can bear the traces of its own undoing. His work resists binary thinking, positioning the artwork as a zone of entanglement, where rupture signals transformation.

Dubeau holds a Master’s in InterMedia-CyberArts from Concordia University (2023). His work has been presented at MUTEK Buenos Aires (2024), Untitled Space Berlin (2023), and the Digital Art Fair Asia in Hong Kong (2023). He has received the John O’Brien Graduate Fellowship (2019) and the McAbbie Foundation Excellence in Sculpture Award (2016), and was a finalist for the BMO 1st Art! Award in Media Arts (2016).
