Navid Navab, Organism: In Turbulence
June 20th 9:30pm (35 min)
At Arsenal Contemporary Art Montréal
Navid Navab's solo performance explores the intricate sonic possibilities of Organism, an installation centered around a century-old pipe organ modified for experimental sound production. Organism, designed by Navab and Garnet Willis, utilizes turbulence-modulated resonators to create unstable timbres and intricate sonic patterns. The performance features a 1910 Casavant pipe organ, rescued from neglect in Montreal and transformed by removing stabilizing modifications that previously eliminated natural turbulence in its sound.

Launch of Alessandro Ludovico’s
latest book
ELEKTRA supports the launch of Alessandro Ludovico’s last book: Tactical Publishing: Using Senses, Software, and Archives in the Twenty-First Century
“Publishing is experiencing one of the most transformative phases in its history.” In Tactical Publishing, a sequel to Post-Digital Print, Alessandro Ludovico explores the forces driving this historical phase, highlighting the tremendous opportunities it presents. Our task, he believes, is to develop an alternative publishing system that transcends the dichotomy between paper and digital media.
Ludovico shows how the radical and strategic use of print in the past can serve as the basis for our transition to the next phase of publishing. He argues that the new ecology of publishing should be based on three main elements: the stimulation of our senses, the role of software in forming the publishing infrastructure, and the importance of archives.
Alessandro Ludovico is a researcher, artist and chief editor of Neural magazine since 1993. He is one of the authors of the award-winning Hacking Monopolism trilogy of artworks (Google Will Eat Itself, Amazon Noir, Face to Facebook).
