About the event

Created in 2012, The International Digital Art Biennial (BIAN) is a major exhibition featuring vernissages and special events, which takes you on an artistic journey dedicated to digital art, by bringing together Montréal’s leading contemporary creation spaces.

This year’s theme is AUTOMATA: Sing the Body Electric, a praise-song to physicality that raises questions about the soul, the body electrified, and how its parts interact in explicit or implicit ways, in relations of respect or exploitation. Nowadays, bodies electrified interact in many more and new ways, with other bodies and with other systems.

The BIAN 2018 will be curated by Peter Weibel, artist, curator and director of the ZKM center for Media Art (Karlsruhe, DE) in collaboration with Alain Thibault, artistic director of ELEKTRA (Montreal, QC-CA). Germany will be the guest country
