Under the theme ILLUSION, we invite you to reflect on our post-factual, post-truth, and alternative-reality era—a subject currently dominating the headlines. The proliferation of digital communication technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) tools is fueling disinformation, notably through deepfakes. We can already see the severe consequences this denial of reality has on the lives of billions of people across our planet. Once again, this 7th Biennale serves as a reflection on our societies, which are increasingly enveloped and infiltrated by the digital world.
Curated by Alain Thibault, more than thirty artists from three continents have been brought together in a unique showcase. Under the theme ILLUSION, some installations will explore the idealized parallel life of the Metaverse, while prompting the public to question the very concepts of reality and simulation. Visitors are invited to challenge the existence of certain works due to their ephemeral, immaterial, or even invisible nature, thereby sharpening their perception of reality versus illusion in a society increasingly enveloped and infiltrated by the digital.
