Squinky D. Squinkifer

Squinky D. Squinkifer is a game designer, new media artist, and musician with a penchant for unconventional interactive storytelling, including work that blends text, visuals, and performance. Their practice engages with queer and genderqueer identities, interpersonal communication, awkwardness and humour. They invite players to engage with the difficulties faced by queer subjects and others through play - often overlapping deeply personal and political reflections with silliness and lightheartedness. Squinky is best known for their game, Dominique Pamplemousse, a handcrafted stop-motion musical point-and-click adventure featuring a non-binary private detective. They are among the founders of Soft Chaos, a Montreal-based worker co-op studio that makes experimental videogames and art.
