Afrane Makof

Afrane Makof (Afrane Akwasi Bediako) is an artist who reexamines history through technology and explores the idea of augmentation and extensions between technological gadgets, humans, and the environment. He translates abandoned technologies into digital experiments using VR, AR, video, 3D animation, and gaming technologies. His projects provoke us to reflect on how technological devices can be compared to beings and how we enter into relationships with them. He refers to the electronic objects and waste he works with as “amputees”, repurposing them into machines and micro-organisms described as “TRONS”. Once taken apart, soldered or desoldered, he considers these as replenished with memories of their past owners.
