On Air

An interactive, voice-activated installation that unveils a spectacle of sound and light, harmony and cacophony, through brass instruments and optical lenses.
Overview

Information
The audience speaks into the bells of two horns. The sound is inhaled into the device. The collected voices become chaotically entangled within an expanding balloon. Inside the balloon, the words collide and recombine. Over time, the pressure becomes too great and the valves open. The voices are forced through steel cones toward an elastic membrane, where friction compels them to embed themselves. An iris opens, slowly releasing the luminous voice toward a series of lenses and mirrors. What follows is a choral harmony of mirrors that transforms into a final cacophonous spectacle of sound, rhythm, and light.
