NOVEMBER 10, 2018 - DECEMBER 09, 2018 LE LIEU 9 - OFFICE DU TOURISME
Temps!Réel is an interface that brings elastic materials to life to recreate film-like effects in real time. Thin aircraft cables and plastic mesh are powered by software and mechanical sound hardware designed by the artist. The result is sculptures in motion that create a sharp contrast with reality.
Maxime Damecour is a multidisciplinary artist based in Montreal. Fuelled by his curiosity, his work is often inspired and enabled by utilizing things in ways not originally intended.

PAVITRA WICKRAMASINGHE (QC) TAKE HOLD LIGHTLY, LET GO LIGHTLY
NOVEMBER 9, 2018 - DECEMBER 16, 2018 FRICHE LA BELLE DE MAI
This installation uses moving lights to animate the shadows of folded paper- airplanes on to the surrounding walls. Each paper-airplane is mounted on a motorized mechanism with individualized lights and suspended from the ceiling, they move concentrically in a programmed motion. As the planes smoothly circle the space, their enlarged shadows are cast in mirrored movement across the gallery walls and the bodies of viewers.

DAVID SPRIGGS (QC) - VISION
NOVEMBER 9, 2018 - DECEMBER 16, 2018 FRICHE LA BELLE DE MAI
Creating sculptures out of multilayered panes of etched, drawn upon, and spray painted transparent sheets, Spriggs’ practice exists between flatness and fullness. With this technique, the artist looks to the evolution of vision: probing into both how we see and how we are seen and surveilled. The artist underscores constantly evolving symbols of light through different historical and cultural significations. Spriggs has been the focus of international solo and group exhibitions.

NOVEMBER 9, 2018 - DECEMBER 16, 2018 FRICHE LA BELLE DE MAI
HMPITSS is an audiovisual art installation that explores the concept of classification and the desire for control pertaining to it. Creating names, definitions, codes, systems, has always helped us to make connections and most significantly, to remember and be remembered. The artwork aims to establish connections between the methodical and the existential meanings of planets, and to offer a reflection on how our existence is inextricably linked to these latter's position in the known universe.

NOVEMBER 8 TO 18, 2018
HORS LES MURS GALLERY
Artificial Reign [RA II] is part of the corpus Artificial Reigns, a series of immersive installations through which the artist explores the boundary between natural and artificial life forms. It consists in a multitude of electroluminescent inflatable cells, animated with slight movement of expansion-contraction that mimic breathing. The whole thing unfolds in space, like a jellyfish bench. Rosalie D. Gagné lives and works in Montreal. She holds a master degree in fine arts from Concordia University
ALEXIS BELLAVANCE
NOVEMBER 8 TO 18, 2018
HORS LES MURS GALLERY
Cordes is a line suspended between two spaces. It mixes air and light in a single stroke that seems to float in the room. A link between two states of the same matter, making the movement of air observable, travelling in a loop between one place and another. One radiant in which the air compresses to bounce back into the other, dark, in a gust of strong wind. Multidisciplinary artist, Alexis Bellavance works within time. His findings, sometimes loud, sometimes silent, are concrete observations of his surroundings. Cycles, positions, laws, echoes, materials, become the segments of conceptual scaffoldings that leads to multiple disciplines: audio art, performance, installation, photography.
