Suzanne Treister

Suzanne Treister is a contemporary artist who gained initial recognition as a painter in the 1980s. Since the 1990s, she has been a pioneer of digital media art, maintaining an ongoing focus on relationships between new technologies, society, alternative belief systems, and the potential futures of humanity. Working across video, the internet, interactive technologies, photography, drawing and watercolour, Treister has developed unconventional long-term projects that reinterpret existing histories to examine the structures that bind power, identity, and knowledge.
