Robert Yang (杨若波) is an artist, writer, academic, and indie video game developer who makes games about gay culture, intimacy, and bodies. His work is explicit and political, exploring gay subcultures while often focussing on sociologically deviant and unapologetically sexual behaviour. Deeply interested in how video games affect us as a society, Yang insists on the importance of having gay people represented in them, crafting high-quality renderings that fit a familiar video game canon, and then intentionally messing with the player’s expectations. He is widely credited as a pioneer of the queer indie game movement, known for provocative, critically acclaimed games.
