Jana Irmert

Jana Irmert is a Berlin-based sound artist and composer whose practice spans spatial composition, film, and live performance. Her work explores the liminal space between musical sound and noise, drawing on extensive field recording experimentation to create immersive sonic environments.

Through themes such as temporality and impermanence—particularly in the context of the ecological crisis—she shapes atmospheric sound worlds where dissonance and fragility become a reflection of our reality.

Her work has been released on labels such as Shelter Press, Fabrique Records, Important Records, and Longform Editions. As a composer and sound designer, she has collaborated on award-winning feature films, documentaries, virtual reality experiences, and video installations. She has performed at international festivals and institutions, including Berlin Atonal, GRM (Paris), Extreme Chill (Reykjavik), and the Elevate Festival (Austria).
