Nature Morte 7, 2022 - Installation and screen sculpture

Nature Morte 7 presents a window - unique but fragmented - composed of several screens. The central piece of this work combines a screen with various electronic components that light up. This suspended sculpture turns its back to the viewer, in order to highlight its internal workings. The consumer electronic components of which the work is composed are deliberately taken out of their usual context in order to reveal their potential, which is often trivialized.

The work showcases its container as much as the content; the electronic components are as apparent as what is displayed on the screen. Both invite reflection by linking our two lived realities, physical and virtual. The modular network at the back of the sculpture creates a glow that extends the virtual world beyond the screen. The work also enlarges and exaggerates the space that such technology takes up, to emphasize its ubiquity.
