Professional meetings of the 2nd CHRONIQUES Biennale of Digital Imagination
Aix-en-Provence-Marseille |14-15-16 January, 2021
ELEKTRA organizes, in collaboration with Seconde Nature and Zinc, for the CHRONIQUES Biennale of Digital Imagination 2020 (Aix-en-Provence/Marseille), a first hybrid edition of its professional activities (in person and virtual), thanks to an online market platform presenting Quebec digital creation in all its forms: interactive installations and performances, augmented reality, virtual, mixed, etc.
Building on its 15 years of experience in organizing the International Digital Art Market in Montreal - MIAN, ELEKTRA will offer an innovative format oriented towards the digital deployment of cultural content and the marketing of Quebec's creative know-how combined with innovation.
CHRONIQUES' partnership with the French Institute this year, which will invite around 50 international broadcasters, as well as the focus on Taiwan, will be conducive to increasing business opportunities.
The economic value of Québec's digital creativity is growing rapidly, in a variety of markets: festivals, museums, cultural, touristic or event-related events and activities, in the urban or heritage fields.
Since 2007, ELEKTRA has played a major role as an ambassador of the Quebec digital creative scene internationally, thanks to its festival, its market, its biennial, under the artistic curatorial direction of Alain Thibault, with a vast network woven with artists on the one hand, and foreign presenters on the other.
The pandemic crisis has accelerated and accentuated the relevance of renewing ways to export Quebec's culture, creativity and digital know-how through innovative solutions. Therefore, the activity offered online includes - just like in person with the MIAN - professional, collective and B to B meetings, and pitches to present the practices and projects of guest creators.
In addition, this first hybrid edition CHRONICS X ELEKTRA will have a structuring character, as it will be the opportunity to develop a permanent online platform.
This technological infrastructure will not only make it possible to broadcast and archive the meetings, collect data and metadata on the creations during the 2020 showcase, but also to capitalize on the 15-year archives from MIAN to ELEKTRA: professional contacts of 500 actors, including 200 from Quebec and 300 from abroad (MIAN statistics 2007-2019), photo and video archives, directory of artwork profiles.
Finally, the platform will allow international presenters and buyers to discover new creations and meet Quebec creators and producers on a virtual market throughout the year.
